Living Downtown in Morgan Hill: What You Get

Morgan Hill isn't all big lots and quiet suburban streets. Downtown is a completely different way to live here, and it comes with its own pace.

Townhomes and condos sit within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, the farmers market, and the Caltrain station. For buyers who want the Morgan Hill community but a more urban, low-maintenance lifestyle, downtown is worth a real look.

What's Actually Downtown

The farmers market runs on Depot Street every Saturday, year-round. On Friday nights( in the summer) there's live music at the downtown amphitheater, and Monterey Street is lined with patio dining, wine bars, and the Granada Theatre for a dinner-and-show night out.

It's a compact, walkable stretch. Most people who live down there can get to dinner, the market, or a show without moving their car.

Steps From the Train

The Caltrain station sits right downtown, and a cluster of townhomes backs right up to it. For anyone commuting north to San Jose or Diridon, or south to Gilroy, that's about as convenient as it gets in Morgan Hill: walk out your door and you're on the platform, no freeway needed. It's one of the biggest, and most overlooked, perks of living downtown.

A Few Stops We Keep Coming Back To

We did a food crawl downtown recently, and these are three spots that stuck:

  • Chocotella, for the crepes.

  • Pre-Hispanic MX Cuisine, where the guacamole and the full spread were a hit.

  • Odeum, our pick for a date night when you want something more elevated.

These aren't the only good spots downtown, just a few we keep going back to.

Who Downtown Is For

If a yard and extra square footage matter most to you, downtown probably isn't the fit. But if you'd rather trade some space for walkability and being in the middle of things, it's one of the more distinct ways to live in Morgan Hill.
